Salah voted England's Footballer of the Year

Salah was picked as Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) after a remarkable season in which he has scored 43 objectives in all rivalries. 

The 25-year-old is the main African player to win the FWA grant which started in 1948. 

Salah barely beat Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne in a poll of more than 400 FWA individuals, with the triumphant edge under 20 votes. Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was set third.

Salah has helped Liverpool, who are third in the Premier League, into the Champions League semi-finals without precedent for a long time. 

The Merseyside club looks AS Roma in the second leg in the Italian capital on Wednesday and leads 5-2 from the opening diversion at Anfield in which Salah scored twice and set up two different objectives.

Different players to get votes from FWA individuals were Sergio Aguero (Manchester City), Christian Eriksen (Tottenham), Roberto Firmino (Liverpool), Nick Pope (Burnley), David Silva (Manchester City), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) and Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham). 

The inaugural FWA Women's Footballer of the Year Award was won by Chelsea and England forward Fran Kirby who has additionally delegated PFA Women's Player of the Year a month ago.
