Real won’t give Barca guard of honour, says Zidane

Real Madrid will not give La Liga champions Barcelona a guard of honour when the sides meet in El Clasico, coach Zinedine Zidane said on Saturday.

Barcelona wrapped up the title a weekend ago and confront European champions Real on Sunday. 

"After the Club World Cup they would not like to do it for us," Zidane told a news meeting. 

"They may have said they didn't do it since they weren't in the opposition, yet that is not valid. You must win the Champions League to play in it and we're both in the Champions League. 

"It's not up to me to choose about the protection of respect however they didn't do it. We, with deference, won't do it for them since they didn't. 

"We regard what Barca have done in winning the association, which for me is the most troublesome and most delightful thing you can do. In any case, these things happen; in the event that they'd have given us one, we wouldn't break the convention of doing as such." 

The occurrence Zidane was alluding to occurred before the Clasico on Dec 23 while, having come back from the United Arab Emirates as Club World Cup victors, Barcelona chose not to give Real a watch of respect as is customary in Spain.
